Merriments Garden and Nursery
What's blooming in the garden in July and August?
The garden is in a romantic stage in July with many pretty roses thriving in the garden covering a wide pallete of colours and offering beautiful scent sensations.  There are lots of vertical accents in the garden too with climbers including rampant clematis and sweet peas.
There is a sense of mystery and discovery around every corner by August due to the fabulous height the borders will have gained and this is accentuated by the very gentle slope in the garden.
The hot border is beginning to sizzle with firey hues and the golden border is gaining colour and will be a magnificent blaze of gold by the end of July.
Merriments Autumn Food Fair
We will be holding our first Autumn Food Fair in the nursery on Saturday 13th September from 10am - 4pm.
Come and see, taste and buy delicious home-made and home-grown seasonal produce from some of the best local food and drink producers. This is a FREE event.
Plant of the Month
Dahlias are invaluable in the summer border often providing glorious colour into the first frosts. They offer many different flower forms including with very showy double varieties in vibrant colours, although the single forms are better for bees and other insects.
Dahlias are enjoying a much deserved return to popularity. Come and see our wonderfully colourful display in the nursery to choose your favourite one!
Falconry in the garden

Join us on Sunday 21st September when we will welcoming some unusual guests to the garden...
Extreme Falconry will be bringing along their birds of prey for some exciting falconry displays.  With a bird hide in our garden we are used to many different types of feathery friends but if you go down to the garden in September expect to see eagles, hawks, falcons, owls and vultures.
Extreme Falconry will be at Merriments between 10am -4pm on Sunday 21st.   Visitors will be able to enjoy this event when purchasing entry to the garden 6 for adults and as a special on this day, kids go free.

Charity Open Days
Merriments will be holding two charity open days in September with all garden proceeds going to charity:
On Tuesday 9th September we will open the garden for St Michaels Hospice and on Thursday 18th September we will open the garden for Macmillan.  Do come along and support these very worth while charities.
